Specializing in Hybrid infrastructure (HCI Stack, VMware and HyperV), Windows Server environments, Azure Cloud, and advanced networking (with a particular focus on SD-WAN solutions like Cisco Meraki), I have consistently delivered scalable, high-performance solutions that enhance system reliability and drive operational efficiency.

Cloud infrastructure Engineer July 2024 - current

Orro Group is a leading technology partner with a strong presence across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the Philippines. The company excels in cybersecurity, Cloud infrastructure, and is a Tier 1 network provider. It is also a key player in critical infrastructure solutions, including OT (Operational Technology). With a focus on innovation, Orro delivers professional and managed services that enhance efficiency, performance, and resilience for businesses of all sizes.

After Orro's acquisition of my previous company, NW Computing, I transitioned into a role within the Cloud Infrastructure team. This move expanded my perspective, allowing me to engage with high-performance teams and work with some of the most sought-after clients, including Qantas Airlines and Australia Post. I gained valuable insight into working with a Tier 1 provider that fosters growth and serves high-level, enterprise-level customers.

My role at Orro further developed my expertise in IT systems and infrastructure while providing opportunities to contribute to large-scale, high-impact projects. With strong partnerships with Microsoft and Cisco Meraki, NW Computing is known for its expertise in Azure and SD-WAN deployments and management.

As a member of the Systems Infrastructure team, I work within a close-knit, highly collaborative group. We are responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting our customers' IT infrastructures, handling high-priority escalations, and delivering ad hoc project work. Excel Serv Solutions

Information Technology Systems Analyst August 2019 - October 2022

Excell Serv Solutions is a family-owned business based in Western Australia, specializing in fuel and retail services. With multiple service station franchises across WA and Victoria, Excell is dedicated to driving innovation within the petrol and convenience industry. After acquiring several businesses, the company faced challenges with integrating diverse systems, which led to my role as an IT Systems Analyst. I was tasked with evaluating and standardizing these systems while managing daily IT operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Gathering requirements for various POS systems and integrating them with Forecourt equipment.
  • Documenting processes and creating training materials for end-users.
  • Migrating email and productivity tools to SAAS (Office 365).
  • Advocating for and driving the adoption of Cloud solutions, particularly Microsoft Azure.

Assa Abloy South Africa | IDS-INHEP Digital Security

IT Systems & Network Administrator September 2014 - July 2019

IDS (Inhep Digital Security) is a leading provider of electronic security systems, offering solutions such as home alarms, digital surveillance, camera systems, and access control.

In my role as an IT and Network Administrator at IDS, I was immersed in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment where technology played a pivotal role in maintaining a competitive edge. I contributed to several high-impact projects, including server virtualization in on-premises data centers, networking initiatives, and major ERP upgrades and integrations, specifically with SAP Business One.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing IT, network, and telecommunication systems across multiple sites
  • Managing a wide range of technologies, including Microsoft Server 2008-2016, Active Directory, RDP Services, File Servers, Application Servers, Print Servers, SQL Server, MySQL, VMware, Veeam backup, and Backup Exec.
  • Supporting SAP Business One, the company-wide ERP system, including integrations with external and in-house applications.
  • Administering internal network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, network equipment, VLANs, routing, and MPLS. I also collaborated with network service providers and vendors for external connectivity and firewall management.

This role provided me with extensive experience in IT systems management and network infrastructure, along with hands-on involvement in key projects that supported the company’s continued growth and technological advancement.

Virtual Logistics

Information Technology Manager October 2010 - September 2014

Virtual Logistics is a specialized provider of supply chain services, offering national and cross-border transportation solutions, including warehousing, e-commerce, bulk loads, retail deliveries, and fleet management. The company caters to industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical, and other time-sensitive sectors.

As IT Manager at Virtual Logistics, I joined the company during a period of rapid growth, which allowed me to contribute to significant infrastructure projects and develop professionally. I played a key role in establishing new branches, collaborating with a development firm to implement a new freight management system, and rolling out an EDI system to improve customer interactions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and supporting IT systems across multiple branches, resolving day-to-day IT issues.
  • Overseeing server and network infrastructure to ensure seamless operations.
  • Maintaining Active Directory and group policies, ensuring a clean and secure environment.
  • Managing Terminal Services, Exchange, Active Directory, telephone systems, backups, scheduled maintenance, DRP testing, security cameras, alarm systems, access control, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to manage hardware and software procurement, including equipment and licenses.
  • Coordinating with third parties and vendors to handle warranty repairs, software assurance, and maintain the IT asset register
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the external EDI in-house system for customer communications.
  • This role provided hands-on experience in IT management across a rapidly expanding organization, allowing me to contribute to strategic projects and enhance overall system efficiency and reliability.

Bytes Technology Group

Customer Support Engineer November 2006 - July 2010

Altron, formerly known as Bytes Technology Group, is a leading provider of IT services, including consulting, software, outsourcing, and systems integration. The company supports clients across South Africa with a range of innovative technology solutions.

As a Customer Support Engineer within the Managed Services department at Bytes, I was responsible for providing IT services to retail and banking clients, including managing partnerships and contracts with Dell South Africa and HP. My role required both collaboration with my team and independent management of a client base, fostering strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams. I also served as a key support resource for the Engen Service Stations Group, providing Level 3 support.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Delivering general and ad hoc IT services to clients, specializing in POS systems and fuel service station domains.
  • Managing planned maintenance, new site installations, and de-installation of leased equipment.
  • Performing Dell onsite warranty repairs and replacements.
  • Participating in site joint responses where clients required support from multiple vendors.

This role gave me valuable experience in customer service, IT support, and vendor management while enhancing my ability to navigate complex client needs and deliver effective solutions.

CEB Maintenance Africa (Acquired by Business Connection-BCX )

Customer Engineer/Field Engineer May 2004 - November 2006

CEB Maintenance Africa is a leading IT Managed Services company specializing in the retail point-of-sale (POS) sector. They support numerous retail chains across South Africa and the African continent, providing tailored IT solutions to meet the unique needs of the industry.

I initially joined CEB as part of the projects team, where I played a key role in managing and executing parallel projects such as equipment end-of-life rollouts, mass software and OS upgrades, asset management, and scheduled preventative maintenance. I later transitioned to the service department as a Field Services Engineer, where I engaged directly with customers, troubleshooting and repairing both POS and back-office equipment. This experience helped solidify the foundation of my IT career and allowed me to develop both technical expertise and valuable soft skills, including prioritization and time management.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Installing and repairing a wide range of POS hardware and software systems.
  • Providing customer support via phone and onsite visits to resolve technical issues.
  • Managing administrative duties such as stock control, daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, and standby duties.
  • Regularly communicating with call center agents, supervisors, and management to plan, report on incidents, and ensure SLA compliance and escalation management.

This role allowed me to gain extensive hands-on experience in IT support while developing critical interpersonal and organizational skills to enhance my overall professional growth.
